Priority Human Services is licensed by the Office of Developmental Programs under the PA Department of Human Services to support adults with Intellectual Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and Autism.
PHS is guided by the principles that individuals with disabilities are people first and should not be defined by their disabilities. Also, we believe that individuals with disabilities have the capacity to engage in lifelong learning as well as the right to lead lives they choose. They have the right to develop to their full potential and participate in the communities in which they reside. In view of this, our employees are trained to adopt a person-centered approach with a focus on partnering with residents and collaborating with their support network (such as family, friends, neighbors, support coordinators etc) to foster autonomy, promote independence, maintain health and safety, find meaningful roles in their community and to feel valued as community members.
The main focus of residential habilitation programming is to empower individuals to live as independently as possible using supports that promote daily living skills, active learning, healthy choices, self-advocacy, community integration and access to social opportunities.
Our services are provided in well-maintained apartments and townhomes located in the community and look just like other houses in those neighborhoods. The homes offer shared living environment for 1 to 3 individuals with private bedrooms for each person. Residents may decorate their living areas as they prefer subject to the conditions of the leasing agreement for the home.
Each home has trained staff members available to provide the necessary support and supervision. Services are tailored to the needs of each resident and are provided in accordance with the person’s authorized Individual Support Plan (ISP). Residents may receive support in areas including but not limited to:
